SIX slam dunk tips to blast your speaking career into space!

Let's be honest, you probably need to read this.

If you do any type of speaking, professional or non-professional, you've already received many suggestions and tips on what to do and what not to do - a TON of them.

"Wear colors! No, wear black and white! Tell stories, use humor, make sure you promote your products! Wait, don't promote your products, you'll look too self-serving!  Stand here when you're done!  No, no there."

Holy smokes, how do you REALLY know what's right and wrong when it comes to speaking?  I mean, after all, you are unique! And really now, can you actually trust the critiques of your fellow speakers (competition...), friends and peers?

Who's looking out for YOU, besides you, that has the experience to give you the truth?

Wouldn't it be invaluable to work one on one with someone that has your best interests in mind AND years of experience working with talent in and out of the speaking field? What about 30 years of experience?

And what if they had worked in pretty much every area of production and post production there is - directing, producing, shooting, graphics, editing and more -- LIVE broadcast television to national and regional conferences and events.

Now that's experience!  Worth checking out right?

There's a small business here in Dallas - Fort Worth that offers honest, let's get if fixed, one on one, progressive, custom coaching for those individuals that want that CHANGE in their speaking careers.  Contact me if interested.

Moving forward - - - - -

Get relational! Use words like you, we and us instead of they, them and people.  Include your audience through your language - YOUR PRONOUNS MATTER.

KEEP YOUR IDEAS SIMPLE. Get to the point, make the point amd move on.  Adding big, run-on language 'puffs' to your ideas diminishes you and the ideas.  Deliver those ideas like they're darts and your aiming for the bullseye. Straight and strong.

The most important time in your presentation is the BEGINNING and not the end! Come out large and in charge.  Capture their attention immediately -  you have about 45 seconds tops!  In that time, they will already know if they like you and want to stay "tuned in" or not.  Your beginning is really like a rocket blasting off. If you don't reach altitude fast enough, you're not going to go as far.

You need to SPEAK TO EVERYONE in the room.  Not literally but metaphorically.  You need to whack a mole every one of them with your eyes and body positioning.  if you don't, you're giving them permission to disengage.  Dont do it!  Engage like a tractor beam by using all of the stage, drawing them in with your hands and eyes. Forward motion working the front and sides of your area, only going backwards to reset.

Does your face say LOSER or winner?  If you dont believe, if you are not confident, you don't have a prayer of success with that group.  Put in the time, go find a mirror and practice being a Winner.

Whatever you do, DON'T LOOK DOWN at your feet.  Down says defeat, down says "I am done."  If you have a habit of thinking with your head down, break it and break it fast.

Quit hiding behind the podium and under layers and layers of clothes!  Be approachable by eliminating physical barriers. Do a room survey before your scheduled time.  You cant be memorable if you're invisible.
